LEADING EUROPEAN SHOULDER SURGEONS IN ZAGREB
International medical assembly on shoulder surgery in Zagreb
Zagreb, April 18, 2008 – a two days international assembly on shoulder surgery Shoulder Instructional Course (SIC) started today, it is held in Hotel Antunović in Zagreb. It is organized by the Croatian Orthopaedic and Traumatology Association (Cro. HUOT) and Akromion Hospital, with the support of the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow (SECEC). The main goal of the assembly is to educate young doctors, orthopaedists and traumatologists from all around Europe.
Speakers are the leading European experts in shoulder surgery, headed by Prof Nikola Čičak, MD. The lectures will be lead by the current President of the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow Prof Peter Habermeyer, MD, from Germany, and by the future President, Jaap Willems from the Netherlands.
On Friday and Saturday, the participants of the assembly in Hotel Antunović will be able to watch a surgery transmitted live from Akromion Hospital in Krapinske Toplice. This transmission from about 50 km distance is enabled by the modern Olympus HD APLHA technology, i.e. integrated operating rooms technology, which is a composite part of the operating room at the new Akromion Hospital. On Friday, Prof Nikola Čičak, MD, will perform a surgery to implant total shoulder endoprosthesis, while on Saturday, Prof Pascal Boileau, MD, from France will do an arthroscopic shoulder stabilization.
